Content of the FORGE Workshop:

1.    Quick overview of Forge

2.    Create a Forge application account

3.    Upload a Revit document to the Forge ecosystem

4.    Translate the document for viewing

5.    Build a simple web application visualizing the document

6.    Extract document metadata and customize the viewing experience


Workshop Requirements:

  • Number of participants: 30-35

  • Previous knowledge of the participants
  • Basic understanding of:

    • Source control (git)
    • Web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
    • Server development using Node.js
    • REST APIs

  • Hardware Requirements:

    • Laptop with internet connection

  • Software Requirements:

    • Coding: Visual Studio Code (link)
    • Source control: git (including Bash for Windows users) (link)
    • Node.js runtime: Node.js 10.16.3 LTS (link)
    • WebGL-enabled browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Edge)

Petr Broz Bio:

Petr is a senior developer advocate at Autodesk. He has been developing some of the company’s web applications and services since 2011, and now he aims to help others build amazing, creative solutions using these tools, especially using Autodesk Forge APIs. Petr’s technical focus areas include everything around web and cloud, 3D graphics, and all kinds of "non-real reality".
